  1. The car thing…..every fucking time. Seriously. 41 years old and I’ve never had a car last more than a year after paying it off. Every. Fucking. Time.

  2. On a more serious note, in a relationship, you should definitely talk about things like getting kids early on. This needs to be addressed, particularly if you have different goals, such as paying off all of your debt or breeding.

  3. When you pay off your auto loan, some people cancel or downgrade their policies to liability-only coverage. That isn’t always true, because even though you own the car, you can not be able to replace it if you lose it.

  4. Last year, I experienced the first three tables. I was luckily spared the fourth because I don’t have a girlfriend. That, I understand, is needed in this situation.

When Panel 3 occurred, I was around $2,000 away from paying off $28,000 in debt in just five years. I might have gotten some interesting pictures for social media if it had been that dramatic.

  5. This has been happening to me for the past 20 years, and I feel as if something is pushing me to confront it, and it will continue to do so.

  6. I feel this so hard right now and it fucking hurts. Any time I save a small amount of money to pay off my mortgage, car repairs occur. Boom, medical expenses. Then there’s some more nonsense. It’s as if the world is set up for you to fail. And it just fuels my anger and motivates me to work harder. And to everyone else in the struggle: keep ‘er movin!

  7. My budget is now more than two months ahead of schedule. Then there was my operation, my dog’s surgery, and a new washing machine… Not at all.

    It’s a blight.

  8. That is, in theory, how it should work.

Pay off your debts before starting a family.

Unfortunately for Millennials, this will only happen if we are over 50, have learned to code in Ruby, have won the lottery, or have entered the real estate market at the right moment.

  9. This was my life as of Thursday.
My car broke down the same day I found out I was pregnant, and I was told I needed a new engine.
    So many feelings.

  10. When my father finally paid off his truck, he was overjoyed and wanted to visit his sister in Arizona. On the way back, he collided with a deer, crushing the front fender.

  11. My wife’s car was paid off earlier this month, and we found out last week that one of our cats has diabetes. So, instead of putting the extra money into savings or home upkeep, we get to put it towards insulin/special diabetic cat food in the animal care category.

  12. For someone who is trapped in this pit, which is clear to some but not to others… The trick is to put money aside rather than using a credit card, and to avoid taking out new car loans… Purchase a one-year-old secondhand or dealer-used item at a 50% discount.

  13. I got notification the *day* after I paid off my car in October that I was responsible for thousands of dollars in medical expenses that my insurance wouldn’t cover. Laugh out loud. I was able to pay off the medical debt last month, which was a huge relief! At a moment, one thing at a time

  14. Pay off your credit card first and foremost! All should be deferred!! Take out a loan from the bank!!! Paying interest on a credit card is a bad idea!!!!

p.s. If you have a credit card, NEVER put yourself in a situation where you would have to pay interest on it for the sake of fidgeting.

  15. I can confirm that my boiler and water heater both died within two months of each other, shortly after I paid off my last credit card.

  16. As of Thursday, this was my life.
My car broke down the same day I found out I was pregnant, and I was told I needed a new engine.
    So many feelings.

Edit: I’m really looking forward to my birth! My car has left me completely devastated.

  17. January 17th, 2020 – Snagged my ACL, ripped my MCL, and broke my tibia after falling off a truck. In February, I developed a blood clot in my lungs. Kidney Stoned in April. Gallbladder failure from May to July. August – Gallbladder surgery causes bile leakage.

    This is an all-too-real comic.
